Pop Study
Once you have watched a monitored app (YouTube etc.) for a threshold amount of time, Poppin comes to the front and slides a flashcard in. Idle scrolling turns into study time.
Time that matters.
Get it on Google Play (coming soon)Turn the time you lose to social media into study time.
Social media never quite ends — one more scroll, one more short, and the time just melts. Poppin measures that watch time and slides a flashcard in front of you once it crosses a threshold. That single card is enough to trigger the psychology of task momentum — a quick review often flows into real focus. That is the time this app is built to create.
Once you have watched a monitored app (YouTube etc.) for a threshold amount of time, Poppin comes to the front and slides a flashcard in. Idle scrolling turns into study time.
An SM-2-based scheduler surfaces cards just as you are about to forget them. Steady, low-friction long-term retention.
14 languages, with per-field language, rate, and playback timing — "auto-play on front", "manual on back", and so on.
Anki-style dynamic templates. Add arbitrary fields; style cards freely with CSS.
YouTube Shorts and similar mini-player playback is caught too. Turning off picture-in-picture for a monitored app from Poppin's home also stops the floating window from overlapping the study prompt.
On first launch the home screen walks you through the four permissions Poppin needs for background monitoring: Usage Access, Accessibility Service, Display over other apps, and Notification access. Each has a one-tap shortcut from the on-screen banner.
Put the words you want to memorize into a plain CSV: front in column 1, back in column 2. Ask ChatGPT or Claude to "generate a 100-word CSV about X" and you have a themed deck in seconds.
From the deck screen, tap "Import CSV" and pick your file. Works with anywhere from dozens to thousands of cards.
Pick which apps to monitor (YouTube etc.), set the interval (default 30 minutes) and cards per pop, then flip the switch. Background monitoring adds up watch time on the target apps; a pop fires the moment the threshold is crossed. Every setting is adjustable later.
Got dedicated study time? Open the deck and drop into regular study mode. It shares the same SM-2 scheduler as Pop Study, so progress carries over cleanly whichever mode you use.
User-to-user deck sharing and multi-device deck sync (for the same user) are on the roadmap.
