Turn wasted phone time into study time.

Concept

Turn the time you lose to social media into study time.

"Wait, I've been scrolling for an hour?" Poppin is a flashcard app that turns that wasted phone time into study time. While you're in a social or video app, a flashcard pops up automatically at an interval you set — so English words, kanji, or whatever you're trying to learn get chipped away at while you scroll.

Who it is for

Features

Pop Quiz

A card pops up automatically once you've used a monitored app for a set amount of time — the more you scroll, the more you study.

Study

Start a focused session whenever you want to sit down and learn. Review timing follows your forgetting curve to keep things efficient.

Flexible Card Types

Dynamic templates. Add arbitrary fields; style cards freely with CSS.

Multilingual TTS

14 languages, with per-field language, rate, and playback timing — "auto-play on front", "manual on back", and so on.

Unified Monitoring Targets

Apps and sites for the same service are managed as one entry, with the major social and video apps ready to go as presets — just pick and start.

Study History at a Glance

A daily grid shows exactly when and how much you studied. Tap a cell for that day's detail — great for keeping a streak going.

How it works

Deck list

1. Create a deck

Open the Decks tab and tap "New deck", give it a name, and save. Splitting decks by topic — vocab, exams, work terms — keeps things easy to manage.

Card editor

2. Add cards

Open a deck, tap "Edit" then "+" for a new card. Add front/back text plus images or audio if you like. Bulk import from CSV works too.

Monitoring targets

3. Pick what to monitor

From the Monitoring tab, choose the services that should trigger Pop Quiz — YouTube, X, Instagram, and more. Apps and their URLs are unified per service, so you add them together in one go.

Pop Quiz firing

4. Turn on Pop Quiz

Pick a deck on the home screen and flip the toggle on. From then on, using a monitored app pops a "Time to study" dialog automatically. You can also open Study mode any time to study on your own. Default interval is 5 minutes, adjustable from 1 to 1440.

Study — back + rating

5. Study, focused

From a deck, tap "Study" for a full-screen card. Reveal the back, then rate yourself on a 4-point scale — Again, Hard, Good, Easy — and the next review time is calculated automatically to match your forgetting curve.

Stats & history

6. Check your history

The Stats tab shows total cards studied, accuracy, and time spent. Tap any cell in the daily grid to see exactly how much you studied that day.
